An 18-year-old has been arrested after a 4-year-old sustained a gunshot wound to a finger, according to Opelousas Police.
Officers responded to a report of a shooting in the 200 block of Coleman Street in Opelousas and found a 4-year-old child with a gunshot wound to a finger.
Police determined that an adult male had the gun in the bathroom and the child removed it, taking it in a bedroom and fired the weapon, according to a release.
Jaqarious Guillory, 18, was charged with negligent injury and illegal carrying of a firearm. He also was booked on several bench warrants out of City Court, police said.

UPDATE: The St. Landry Parish Sheriff s Office says that two of the four wanted fugitives have been arrested.
34-year-old Eric Cary was arrested and booked on three counts of drug charges and resisting an officer and 54-year-old Marty Hargroder was arrested and booked on three counts of illegal possession of stolen things.
The sheriff s Office and Opelousas Police Department are still looking for the following individuals:
Kaleb Morris Cormier, 24, is wanted by the St. Landry Parish Sheriff s Office for the theft of a firearm.
Glenn Thomas Babineaux, 37, is wanted by the Opelousas Police Department on three counts of drug charges, resisting an officer, and traffic warrants.
