One person has been arrested after Opelousas Police responded to two shooting incidents in the city Monday night.
According to police, officers responded to a shots fired call at 6 p.m. in the area of W. Grolee Street and Sapphire Street. At least one person and at least one residence in the area were struck by gunfire. The victim received a gunshot wound to the lower leg, was treated at a local hospital, and released shortly after.
Details surrounding the shooting are limited at this time. Police say the victim tried to leave the area in a vehicle, but crashed the vehicle into a tree as the vehicle was being fired upon. The vehicle was also struck by gunfire, along with a home in the area that police say was occupied at the time of the shooting.

Opelousas Police are investigating a shooting Saturday night that left one person dead.
According to police chief Martin Mclendon, officers responded shortly after 8:15 p.m. to a possible shooting in the 600 block of Patsy Street.
One male victim was found with a gunshot wound and was deceased on officers arrival.
The investigation is ongoing; no further information is available at this time.
