(WWNY) - Two more people have died from COVID-19 at United Helpers Rehabilitation and Senior Care in Canton That’s a total of five at the facility. Three people had died as of Tuesday. Eight more staff have tested positive. The facility has had a total of 82 positive case, 36 residents and 46 staff. One person is hospitalized. There have been no additional deaths reported at United Helpers Rehabilitation and Senior Care in Ogdensburg since Christmas Eve.

(WWNY) - United Helpers reported on Monday that three people have died from COVID-19 at its Rehabilitation and Senior Care Center in Canton. The deaths are the first at the Canton facility, and occurred over the Christmas holiday. As of Christmas Eve, the Canton facility reported no deaths. The number of residents at the Canton facility testing positive for COVID jumped from 30 to 36, and the number of staff testing positive from 20 to 37.

Photo: Julia Ritchey Dec 28, 2020 Since late November, 25 nursing home residents have died due to COVID-19 at two United Helpers facilities in St. Lawrence County. The outbreak at the facility in Ogdensburg began around Thanksgiving. Since then, 207 cases have been linked to United Helpers Rehabilitation and Senior Care facility in Ogdensburg, with 128 residents testing positive and 22 residents dying due to the disease as of Monday, Dec. 28. Five people from the facility are currently hospitalized with COVID-19. The virus also began to spread in late November at the two United Helpers facilities in Canton. At the Rehabilitation and Senior Care, 73 cases have been linked to the facility, including 36 residents.
