(WWNY) - The COVID=19 death toll at United Helpers Rehabilitation and Senior Care in Ogdensburg has reached 20. Seventeen people had died as of Friday. There have 199 cases there since November 22, 125 residents and 74 staff. Six people are hospitalized and 65 have recovered. There have been 33 positive cases at United Helpers Rehabilitation and Senior Care in Canton since November 29, 18 residents and 15 staff. Two staff and two residents have tested positive at Assisted Living in Canton.

Saturday, December 19, 2020 - 4:56 pm Editor’s Note This story recently ran as a spotlight in NCTW Together, Northwest Tech, Southwest Tech and Seaway Tech put together care packages for the staff at United Helpers Rehabilitation and Senior Care, formerly RiverLedge in Ogdensburg to help with the crisis they are facing. Culinary students prepared muffins and energy balls for individual packages as well as plates of holiday cookies. Students and staff created and also signed cards of support, and love for staff and residents. They also packed snacks and quick meals for distribution. Pepsi of Ogdensburg donated cases of Gatorade and water to the BOCES care package program.

(WWNY) - Employees at United Helpers Rehabilitation and Senior Care in Ogdensburg got a hand from Ogdensburg city employee unions. The embattled nursing home workers have been dealing with a COVID-19 outbreak that has killed 17 people. No new deaths have been reported since Thursday. In the photo above, the Ogdensburg City Police Department Patrolmen’s Union and Police Supervisor’s Union came together to make both a financial contribution to the workers and a contribution of snacks, beverages, hand sanitizer, and other essential items.

Vaccines to arrive at Canton United Helpers facility on Dec 31

Thursday, December 17, 2020 - 1:02 pm  OGDENSBURG – United Helpers Rehabilitation and Senior Care in Canton will be the first United Helpers’ facility to receive the Pfizer-BioNTech COVID-19 vaccine, with an arrival date of Thursday, Dec. 31. According to the Centers for Disease Control (CDC), HealthDirect, member of the Pharmacy Partnership for Long-term Care (LTC) Program, will provide management of the United Helpers COVID-19 vaccination process, including cold storage, on-site vaccination administration, and fulfillment of reporting requirements. “All of the residents and 50% of the staff will be vaccinated in Canton on the 31st,” said Stephen Knight, United Helpers CEO. “On Tuesday, January 5th, the same process will occur at the Ogdensburg campus, with all of the residents and 50% of the staff receiving vaccinations.”

(WWNY) - A 17th person has died from COVID-19 at United Helpers Rehabilitation and Senior Care in Ogdensburg. That’s one more than was reported on Wednesday. It comes as the organization is gearing up to start vaccinating residents and staff against the disease at the end of the month. There have been no new cases at the facility since Wednesday. Since November 22, 124 resident and 74 staff have tested positive.
