NEW DELHI: The National Commission for Women (NCW) has created a separate cell in the Commission for the newly formed union territories, Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh to deal with issues of women in the region.
Followed by NCW Chairperson Rekha Sharma’s visit to the union territories, it was observed that the issues related to women in these regions need special attention.
The Commission decided to set up a separate cell for these regions after the Chairperson’s visit to Jammu and Kashmir in the month of February where she had held interactive sessions with NGOs, One Stop Centres for Women, and other officials in the union territory to take stock of problems faced by women.

NEW DELHI: Having trained nearly 41,000 personnel across child care institutions (CCIs), educational institutions, judicial academies and other welfare functionaries on child protection with a special focus on mental health since June last year, the government has decided to complete training of all officials and caregivers in the 7,000 plus registered CCIs and observation homes within this year.
Project SAMVAD steered by NIMHANS Bangalore and supported by the ministry of women and child development is cited to be a national initiative and integrated resource for child protection, mental health and psychosocial care. The focus of the project is to provide support, advocacy and mental health interventions for children in vulnerable circumstances.

President Dr Julius Maada Bio today joined the First Lady – Fatima Maada Bio and other eminent Sierra Leonean women to discuss “Women in Leadership”, at a video conference commemorating International Women’s Day.
Mrs Bio said that the women of Sierra Leone are pleased and grateful for the President’s involvement with their efforts at observing the day in a very special way.
She further stated that the level of participation of women in the day-to-day running of the state is a right step towards nation building, adding that it is also a way of supporting women and girls to benefit from the human capital development drive of the government.
