Firearms, drugs, cash seized from parolees in Lenawee County

ADRIAN Several firearms along with drugs and cash were seized Tuesday during compliance checks on parolees in Lenawee County, law enforcement officials said Wednesday.
Investigators from the Region of Irish Hills Narcotics Office worked with Michigan Department of Corrections agents to check on people on parole from prison. At one residence, officers seized a 12-gauge shotgun; an AK-47-style rifle with multiple magazines including a 75-round drum; an AR-style rifle with multiple magazines; one 9 mm pistol with a 31-, 40- and 50-round drum magazine; another 9 mm pistol with two magazines; two simulated suppressors; and more than 1,000 rounds of various pistol, shotgun and rifle ammunition, a news release from RIHNO said.

Thomas S. “Tom” Weatherup, 91, of Central Square, died Wednesday.
He was a life resident of Central Square and a graduate of Central Square high school. He attended Clarkson University and served in the US Navy Construction Battalion (Seabees), according to his obituary.
He was an entrepreneur who developed residential housing communities including North Country Heights, Irish Hills, Green Acres Apartments, Country Garden Apartments, Senior Living Community Summerhill Village and Watertower Landing.
