Metro Detroit weather: Pop-up storms possible Wednesday afternoon
Wednesday highs in mid 80s

DETROIT –
Happy Wednesday!
Some scattered thunderstorms are expected to develop across our region this afternoon, and may be enhanced by lake breezes. The upshot is that we’ll have a beautiful, sun-filled Pure Michigan morning.
Today’s sunrise was at 6:30 a.m.
Highs today should reach the low-to-mid 80s, with a light and variable wind.
A few pop-up thunderstorms are possible Wednesday afternoon from the Irish Hills through northern Oakland County particularly for those in areas with higher terrain and into the Thumb, where the Lake Huron lake breeze could also trigger a few storms. More of us won’t see a drop of rain today than will, but I strongly urge you to keep a close eye on the app’s radar if you have outdoor afternoon plans.

BROOKLYN For tens of thousands at the Faster Horses Festival, it was an old-fashioned kind of stimulus and a new sort of pandemic relief.
Michigan’s first major music festival since 2019 got underway Friday, instantly accelerating the concert scene from 0 to 40,000 as that many country fans descended onto the grounds of Michigan International Speedway for the fest’s eighth installment.
It was the biggest gathering in the state since the onset of COVID-19 more than 16 months ago.
If it turns out we truly have come out the other side of this, then Friday night s scenes will stand as a triumphant milestone: masses of people pressed tight for Luke Combs headlining set, searchlights dancing in the distance behind them, drawn together by the music.
