The Irish Air Corps has submitted a proposal outlining how it could provide search and rescue
The Irish Air Corps could easily be trained to resume search and rescue operations in the Irish Sea, a British company that specialises in teaching military helicopter pilots has said.
The current search and rescue contract with CHC Ireland, a private operator, is due to end in 2023. The Department of Transport is currently undertaking a consultative process ahead of putting the new contract, worth an estimated €700 million out to tender.

Picture PTDI Senegal took delivery of first CN-235 Maritime Patrol Aircraft A CN-235 Maritime Patrol Aircraft (MPA) ordered by the Senegalese Defense Ministry landed on April 6 at Dakar’s airport. The aircraft was modified by PT Dirgantara Indonesia (PTDI). 16 Apr 2021
While the aircraft is Senegal’ third CN-235, it is the first one in MPA configuration. The one delivered back in 2017 by PTDI came in a “quick change” configuration (it can be reconfigured quickly for various missions including general transport duties, VIP transport and MEDEVAC).
PTDI officially handed over the aircraft on March 19 at the company’s facilities in Bandung. Senegal has been using PTDI-produced aircraft for 10 years.
