Maryland Gov. Larry Hogan visited local Asian businesses and community leaders in Ellicott City Monday in the wake of a rise in violence against Asian Americans. Hogan and his wife also visited businesses on Korean Way, a five-mile stretch along Route 40 that is home to approximately 166 Korean businesses.
A Washington, D.C., shop owner was punched in the face during a confrontation with a customer Tuesday.
Max Trading owner Chong Hu Lu said he was punched in the face after a customer got upset about his store’s policy of not removing the jewelry from the case and started to yell obscenities, according to a tweet posted by WRC reporter Aimee Cho on Wednesday.

Two D.C. police officer shot at a man in Northwest D.C. early Friday amid the search for a robbery suspect, police say. The shooting victim, Antonio Garnes, 58, of Northwest, D.C., is charged in the robbery. He’s expected to survive, the Metropolitan Police Department said. Uniformed officers initially responded to an assault report at 2nd Street and Rhode Island.
