An Asian jewelry store owner was attacked by a non-white supremacist for not letting him open store items in the store. The attacker, a black man, became upset and started punching him while cursing, saying he hated Chinese people.
The victim, Chong Hu Lu, owner of Max Trading, told News 4 DC that he needed 14 stitches.
The attacker, a non-white supremacist yelled, “F you Chinese people. I hate you.”
If we are going to stop Asian hate, we probably should start by honestly identifying the problem. Black men are beating Chinese people. That is the problem.
The attacker ran away and has not been arrested.

Washington, DC, police are searching for a suspect in a possible hate crime following the assault of an Asian store owner on Tuesday that was captured on the business’s surveillance camera.
The Metropolitan Police Department said it is investigating the offense as “potentially being motivated in whole or in part by hate or bias.”
Reports of anti-Asian violence have been on the rise nationally. Since March 19, 2020 as Asian Americans were being erroneously blamed for the Covid-19 pandemic Stop AAPI Hate said it received more than 6,000 complaints of racism and discrimination.
An Asian business owner was assaulted inside his store in Northeast D.C. earlier this week in an attack police are investigating as a possible hate crime.
The attack happened at Max Trading, a wholesale jewelry and gift shop on 4th Street near Union Market.
Chong Hu Lu, the owner, told police a man came inside the store a little after 1:45 p.m. Tuesday and asked if he could open a package to look at the merchandise. When Lu told the man he couldn’t open the package, the man began punching him in the face, cutting his lip, according to a police report.
His wife, Cong Cong Hu, stepped in and tried to help, the surveillance video shows.
“I was so scared. What if the guy go crazy, have a gun or knife? I don’t know what would happen, so I’m so scared,” Hu said.
Lu had to go to the hospital, where he got 14 stitches.
How to Help
The family said the attacker ran away and has not been arrested.
Lu said he hopes to see police make an arrest and that he’s tired of seeing Asian Americans get attacked.
An investigation is ongoing, according to D.C. police, who said they are treating it as a possible hate crime.
