Local deputy who died a year ago while on the job honored in DC and at home

IDAHO FALLS Next week marks one year since a Bonneville County Sheriff’s deputy lost his life in the line of duty and now he is being honored at home and the nation’s Capitol.
Wyatt Maser died at the age of 23 near Bone on May 18, 2020, when being hit by another sheriff’s deputy responding to the scene of a woman wielding a machete. Senator Mike Crapo honored Maser as part of National Police Week during the message on the Senate Floor.

MERIDIAN, Idaho The state of Idaho took time Thursday to remember and honor those who have fallen while in the line of duty.
A special ceremony was held at the Idaho Peace Officers Memorial in Meridian.
Gov. Brad Little joined other dignitaries to pay their respects to those who gave their life while serving others.
One by one those who died while in the line of duty had their name read aloud, along with what department they served for and when they died.

The Idaho Peace Officers Memorial is located in Meridian, Idaho on the grounds of the Idaho State Police Headquarters.
The purpose of the memorial is to recognize the sacrifices of those officers who have given their lives in the line of duty for citizens of the state. The memorial provides a place of solace for families of these fallen officers and also honors those who currently serve the citizens of Idaho as peace officers.
