BOISE, Idaho Transportation Security Administration officers say they found a loaded handgun in carry-on luggage at the Boise Airport.
The gun was found during a routine screening Tuesday when a TSA officer spotted the image of a handgun on the X-ray screen. Boise Police were notified immediately.
The firearm - a 9 mm Sig Sauer P365 semi-automatic pistol - was loaded with 19 rounds of ammunition. This is the fifth firearm discovered by TSA in carry-on luggage at Boise in 2021.

In 2020, Idaho Transportation Security Administration (TSA) officers discovered a total of 24 firearms in carry-on luggage across two of Idaho s airports, the same number discovered in 2019.
Despite a dramatic decrease in the number of travelers departing from Idaho airports due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the number found remained consistent with previous years.
Each of the 24 firearms discovered was found by TSA officers during routine pre-flight screenings, according to a release from TSA. All were discovered at either Boise Airport (22) or Idaho Falls Regional Airport (2).

BOISE, Idaho (KIFI)-Idaho Transportation Security Administration (TSA) officers report finding a total of 24 firearms in Idaho travelers’ carry-on luggage in 2020. That is the same number as 2019, although there were far fewer airline travelers in 2020, due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
The firearms were discovered in only two Idaho airports. Two were recovered in Idaho Falls and 22 at the Boise Airport. Idaho Falls also had two incidents in 2019 while Boise recorded 19.
