SRINAGAR: As Covid-19 cases continue to be on the rise, Srinagar district administration, headed by Dr. Aijaz Assad, has ordered the deferment of the Kashmir Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCCI) elections until further orders.
According to the Deputy Commissioner’s order, elections to the KCCI Executive Committee cannot be held at the Amar Singh Club in Sonwar as the said region has been declared a containment zone.
“Public movement in and outside the said locality has been restricted except that of essential services and therefore elections as scheduled cannot be conducted till the said zone is de-notified under the norms”, it says.
SRINAGAR: Following the discovery of forty-four positive cases here on Thursday, District Magistrate Srinagar Dr. Aijaz Assad has declared five more areas as micro-containment zones.
Sheikh-Ul-Alam Colony in Hyderpora, Hamdania Colony Sector 5 in Bemina, Usmania Colony in Bemina, HIG Colony Lane No 3 in Bemina, and Main Campus University of Kashmir in Hazratbal are among the newly notified localities.
According to an official, the notification was issued in response to the discovery of at least forty-four active Covid-19 cases and to prevent the virus from spreading further in the affected areas (GNS).

Srinagar, Apr 20: Director Sher-e-Kashmir Institute of Medical Sciences (SKIMS) Soura Dr A G Ahanger Tuesday said that Covid samples from Kashmir are being sent to New Delhi and Pune testing facilities but there has been âno changeâ in the Covid strain that existed in the Valley last year. He, however, said the teh Covid cases have shown a “tremendous surge” in the past over two months.
âWe have been sending the Covid samples of patients to New Delhi and Pune laboratories for testing. There has been no change in the Covid strain that existed in Kashmir last year so far,â Ahanger said in reply to a query during a press conference in Srinagar as per news agencyâKashmir News Observer (KNO).

JAMMU/SRINAGAR/ LEH, Apr 19: A massive surge of 451 COVID positive cases in Jammu district saw Jammu region overtaking Kashmir division recording 768 positives as against 748 of Kashmir valley while the Union Territory reported six more casualties today. The district administration Jammu has declared five localities as micro-Containment Zones under Section 144 following spike in the cases while authorities in Leh today ordered that only those labourers with RT-PCR negative report not older than 96 hours will be allowed to enter Leh.

JAMMU/SRINAGAR/ LEH, Apr 16: Two persons died and 1144 tested positive for COVID-19 in Jammu and Kashmir today as there was no let up in fresh cases with Srinagar and Jammu districts alone accounting for 407 and 223 positives respectively. The UT of Ladakh also reported 186 fresh Corona cases.
One Corona casualty each was reported from Jammu and Kashmir divisions. While there were 730 new cases in the Valley, the number was 414 in Jammu.
A 79-year-old woman from Ward No. 67 Lower Barnai in Jammu district died of COVID-19 and other complications in ASCOMS Sidhra today taking Corona toll in Jammu region to 759 and Jammu district to 396.
