SRINAGAR: As the newly installed Oxygen facility at key Jawaharlal Lal Nehru Memorial (JLNM) hospital froze for five minutes, it was a near-death experience for more than 100 COVID19 patients on the oxygen therapy. It triggered panic and a literal mass-outpouring,, people who were in the hospital said.

The incident according to one of the hospital administrators, Dr Bilquis Shah, took place at 11:20 am on May 10. “There was fear that we would lose them had the supply stopped for some more time,”

Lockdown Gets Harsher, Essential Shopping Time Reduced To 4 Hours Only
SRINAGAR: As Jammu and Kashmir continues to be under lockdown following a steep rise in Covid-19 cases, the district administration of Srinagar today changed the schedule for essential shopping in the capital city. Now the shopping of listed items can take place for four hours ending at 12 noon.

“Whereas, State Executive Committee vide its order No.29-JK (DMRRR) of 2021 dated 09.05.2021 has issued some additional guidelines regarding COVID-19 containment measures & vide its order No. No.28-JK(DMRRR) of 2021 dated 09.05.2021 has issued policy for admission in Hospitals,” the order issued by the District Magistrate Srinagar reads.
SRINAGAR: In the last 24 hours, Jammu and Kashmir reported 56 fresh deaths and detected 3614 new Covid19 infections. This is despite the fact that the pandemic has literally paralysed everything across the erstwhile state.

With the fresh toll of 56, the overall death by Covid19 has reached 2782 people. These include 1572 in Kashmir and 1210 in Jammu.
The existing health infrastructure is under massive load. There were grim images of patients moving to the hospitals with their personal or borrowed Oxygen concentrators and cylinders in Kashmir as well as in Jammu. Not many beds are available right now. Massive crowds are reporting to the hospitals and testing centres for mandatory tests and re-tests and inadequate staff is adding to the crisis.
SRINAGAR- In wake of spike in Covid-19 cases, the District Disaster Management Authority (DDMA), Srinagar has established an oxygenated 100-bed Covid care facility at Haj House Bemina, an official said.The facility has come up at Hajj House in just a week’s time.
While giving details, the CMO Srinagar apprised the Deputy Commissioner, Aijaz Asad, who is also chairman DDMA, that the patients referred by a physician having mild symptoms of Covid-19 infection and requiring oxygen support of less than 10 litres per minute can be admitted for isolation as well as treatment.
He further added that Health Department is in the process of procuring more Bulk Oxygen Cylinders and Oxygen Concentrators to augment the bed capacity at Hajj House.
