Memorial scholarship honors former Logan County Deputy

The Courier The memories of Logan County Sheriffs Deputy the late Scott Brown are being honored with a scholarship being named after him. Brown, 65,  lost his battle with cancer and died February 14, 2021 but his work in law enforcement will be remembered as a newly formed committee along with Brown’s family is setting up the Scott Brown Memorial Scholarship Fund. In a statement from the committee shared their thoughts on keeping Brown’s spirit alive. “As our community continues to grieve the loss of Scott, this fund will help to keep his memory alive through helping students achieve their dreams of success,” as written in the statement.

Mount Pulaski committee asks all to plant trees

Regular hours resume at historic courthouse

The Courier Mount Pulaski, Il. - Mount Pulaski Courthouse will return to their regular hours of Tuesday through Saturday, noon to 4 p.m. on Tuesday, March 16, 2021.  The Mount Pulaski Courthouse is actively seeking volunteers to be docents once or twice a month from noon to 4 p.m. For those who are interested in learning and telling the story of Abraham Lincoln, along with local and state history, are asked to  contact Renee Martin at mpch1847@gmail.com or call 217.792.3919. Recommended ages: High School and above. When visiting the site, social distancing requirements are highly recommended. For those who are exhibiting any symptoms are being asked to please do not enter. Face masks and staying socially distanced from others are required. Low voter turnout is shameful Dan Tackett It surely seems I’ve been down this road before, but here I go once again. And I’m still as puzzled as I was on previous trips. The central focus here is voter turnout.  Actually, it’s all about the lack of voter turnout when it comes to citizen decision-making when it comes to choosing leaders for the city of Lincoln.  What prompts this voyage down this familiar passage are the numbers registered this week in the city’s Republican primary election for mayor and in one ward for nomination to run for an aldermanic seat.
