As we leave a very difficult 2020 behind, we’re grateful to have had so many incredible voices as part of Magazine, and for the places their words, ideas, images, and music have taken us. We asked some of our contributors to share a wish for 2021 in a form of their choosing; something they’re looking forward to, something they hope for, or something they’d like to see. Their responses below show the connections we still find through art and the uninhibited dancing in a crowd we still seek.
In these current days of COVID before mass vaccination, live performance outlets are still extremely limited or nonexistent with the state s recent return to Phase 3, Step 1.
Fortunately, many artists, musicians, actors, producers and others in related areas here and with Worcester area ties were determined to keep going. Often that meant finding innovative ways to express themselves and to continue to engage and entertain us.
O Donovan brought us GBH Presents A Christmas Celtic Sojourn ONLINE with Brian O Donovan. The Hanover Theatre engaged its new THT Rep and the BrickBox Theater for A Christmas Carol Reimagined, while Music Worcester presented a Virtual Messiah Sing. New voices emerged.

Not everyone finds what they’re meant to do in life. But
Charles Sheppard did. Friends and family say he truly believed in the value of one veteran helping another, and that’s what he was doing in his role as a peer support specialist with the Milwaukee VA Medical Center.

On Dec. 17–20, almost 1,900 University of Iowa students will receive their degrees in livestreamed, virtual commencement ceremonies, beginning with the College of Education’s undergraduate and Teacher Education Program recognition on Dec. 17 and concluding with the College of Engineering undergraduate ceremony on Dec. 20.
