An all-Mozart affair
The Worcester Chamber Music Society continues its 15th season with its Annual Senior Concert, an all-Mozart concert recorded at Briarwood Retirement Community and premiering online at 4 p.m. May 15. WCMS offers a festive display of Mozart’s artistry with two of his most beloved chamber works. From the youthful exuberance of his first flute quartet to the poignancy of his C Major quartet, the music exudes an effortless beauty. The performance is free for all senior citizens residing in Worcester County. The concert is also the Dr. Ted Conna Memorial Concert. Dr. Conna (1931-2016) was a child psychiatrist and social activist in Worcester for more than 40 years. He was also a talented pianist with a great love of classical music. (RD)

In the late playwright A.R. Gurney s popular 1988 Love Letters, a male actor and female actor read to the audience letters and notes between Andrew and Melissa from early childhood through their respective marriages, children, and, in Melissa s case, divorces.
There is a good deal of humor in what is read and the authors of these letters do love each other, but for various reasons important opportunities get lost.
In Other Letters, a play by Bryan Renaud and Carin Silkaitic inspired by Love Letters, Charlie and Tommy begin passing notes when they are 8 years old. What follows are lives and a love similarly told in letters, notes and emails with some connections and lots of near-misses.
In these current days of COVID before mass vaccination, live performance outlets are still extremely limited or nonexistent with the state s recent return to Phase 3, Step 1.
Fortunately, many artists, musicians, actors, producers and others in related areas here and with Worcester area ties were determined to keep going. Often that meant finding innovative ways to express themselves and to continue to engage and entertain us.
O Donovan brought us GBH Presents A Christmas Celtic Sojourn ONLINE with Brian O Donovan. The Hanover Theatre engaged its new THT Rep and the BrickBox Theater for A Christmas Carol Reimagined, while Music Worcester presented a Virtual Messiah Sing. New voices emerged.
