In 2019, Summit County was designated an AARP Age Friendly Community. Since then, the county’s human services department has been at work developing an age-friendly action plan that will identify what additional services it could offer to the community.
Featuring the three artist’s signature powerful vocals, “Siren Song” serves as a preview for what’s to come with ViVA Trio both with this single and their forthcoming sophomore and third release; currently being finessed in tandem, the two albums reveal a new yet familiar sound, style, and story for the Mississauga, Ontario-based group.
“Cinematic, electronic, ethereal, and dramatic are some of the words I would use to describe the sound we are creating for this next push of music,” Fisher shares of “Siren Song,” and beyond. “We’re pouring all of our creativity into these upcoming releases.”
Set to feature full storylines, characters, costumes, elaborate makeup, hair and effects for their live shows, album art, and music videos, the theatrical overtones reflect each member’s professional background in opera and stage arts.

In these dramatically polarized times, we can be quick to judge political beliefs, but how often do we take the time to listen to the experiences that shaped those beliefs?
In early March, 29 strangers met for an event hosted by Missouri Humanities and KCUR on Zoom to do just that.
Wendy Douglas of Joplin, Missouri, doesn’t identify with any party, but she opened the conversation by responding to the question “Is there something you want me to understand about you or your values?” I feel like if we take care of each of our trees, our forest will be great, she said. I m starting to realize that the individuals are more important. The smaller communities, the minorities, taking care of the poor, these things are things that are good for the wealthy. And taking care of the society is making sure that every single individual is taken care of.

When Gil Leal took AP Environmental Science in his junior year of high school, he was surprised by how different it was from his other AP classes. Instead of spending the bulk of the time sitting through lectures, taking notes, and studying abstract texts, his class visited a strawberry farm in the valley nearby.
It wasn’t just for a tour. Leal and his peers were tasked with thinking about the many challenges that modern farms confront, from water shortages to pest infestations and erosion. More surprising to Leal: Students were asked to design their own solutions, incorporating what they had learned about things like soil composition, ecosystem dynamics, and irrigation systems.
