The Aprilia RS 660 was an important motorcycle for the Italian marque. Not only did it mark the Italian brand’s entry in the mid-displacement supersport segment, but it also gave the world an insight into its new design language. The Tuono 660, 2021 RSV4, and the Tuono V4 eventually followed. Now, the House of Noale has updated the smallest of the lot: the RS 125 and Tuono 125.
Just a glance and you know these pocket rockets take design inspiration from their elder siblings. The headlight, however, has a striking resemblance to the ones on the Aprilia SXR 160 and the SXR 125. In fact, even the LCD instrument console looks straight off the Italian maxi-scooter.

Larger Mill
In its quest for more power, Aprilia has bumped up the V4 motor with a few more cubic inches. The engine now displaces 1,099cc, as opposed to the previous 1,077cc motor. The updated mill makes 217PS at 13,000rpm and 125Nm at 10,500rpm (3Nm more than the previous model). It’s mated to a 6-speed gearbox assisted by a quickshifter.

With the launch of the SXR 160 in December 2020, Aprilia entered the maxi-scooter realm in the Indian two-wheeler market. However, at 1.27 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi), the scooter is on the pricier side. Now, the Italian brand is gearing up to launch the smaller, more affordable SXR 125 soon. For the ones waiting eagerly, pre-bookings have already commenced for a token amount of Rs 5,000 on Aprilia’s official website.
Aprilia’s new steed will offer a single-cylinder air-cooled 124.45cc motor that makes 9.52PS of power and 9.2Nm of torque. Its design mirrors that of the SXR 160 and the features list includes LED headlights with DRLs, a digital instrument console and a USB charging port.
