The last time I let myself get roped into this particular project, back in 2018, I managed to whittle 128 Tiny Desk concerts down to just 25 a Herculean feat of winnowing from which I m still smarting. To keep that ratio alive in 2020, I d need to hack and slash until just 10 Tiny Desk concerts remained. And it just can t be done. So let s double it and go with 20 highlights from our truncated year, listed chronologically. And then we ll hang on until we can resume this wonderful, discovery-packed series in a newer, better, more heavily vaccinated world.

Prices of ‘round’ fruits spike ahead of the New Year

According to Bernadette Reyes’ report on “24 Oras,” Divisoria prices of pineapple per kilo increased to P200 from P120, while a watermelon now costs P50 from P35. “Sa pandemiya po kasi, mahirap ipasok dito. Naho-hold kaya tinataasan ng mga supplier din,” a vendor said. Filipinos have started buying round fruits due to the belief that displaying round-shaped fruits on the table on New Year’s Eve will attract good fortune for the coming year.
PNP begins process to dismiss Nuezca
Published December 25, 2020 10:00pm The Philippine National Police Internal Affairs Service is starting to process the summary dismissal proceedings against Police Senior Master Sergeant Jonel Nuezca, the cop who shot dead a mother and son in Paniqui, Tarlac. According to Jun Veneracion’s report on “24 Oras” on Friday, the IAS is planning to submit results of the proceedings to PNP chief Police General Debold Sinas by January 20, 2020. “Ni-shorten nga natin mga periods given by the rules sa pag-process ng kaso kay Nuezca para ma-beat natin ang 30 days but IAS is ensuring also na it will not disregard totally his right to due process,” PNP inspector general Alfegar Triambulo said.
