Indian Banking Sector Needs To Become Technology Enabled

There is a greater need for Indian banking sector to become technology enabled and develop tools like APIs (Application Programming Interface) to compete with fintech companies in the credit business, former finance secretary, S. C. Garg said in an ASSOCHAM e-summit yesterday. In his inaugural address in an ASSOCHAM National E-Summit & Awards - Banking and Financial Lending Companies, Garg stated that banking in the digital era will have to fintechalise and public sector banks need to be generally readying themselves for the new age banking as it would improve performance and strengthen their finances. Garg also said that banks need to be able to match efficiency and service of the fintech companies in the retail loans as well.

The summit will be held online and feature four conclaves, including one for start-ups. So far, 300 start-ups from across the country are participating. The Innovators’ Conclave has 2,000 registrations and 800 people have registered for the Growth Conclave. The Youth Conclave is expected to attract 1,000 attendees. The theme for this year’s summit is ‘Sustain to Attain’. A social campaign, called ‘Pankh’, will focus on the growth of micro, small and medium enterprises through sustainable business models.

14-year-old s virtual classroom app wins IIT Roorkee s app innovation challenge ANI | Updated: Feb 23, 2021 15:23 IST New Delhi [India], February 23 (ANI/NewsVoir): Fourteen-year-old Aritra Neogi, Class IX student of Kendriya Vidyalaya (AFS), Barrackpore West Bengal has won the IIT Roorkee s E-Summit 21 App Innovation Challenge for his app named Yesmam - Realtime Classroom . Aritra s app facilitates virtual classroom education through faster interaction between teachers and students. He received a certificate from IIT Roorkee along with Codingal Merchandise. IIT Roorkee organised this competition a few weeks ago in partnership with Codingal, an online coding platform for K-12 (school) students. Manas Hejmadi (St Paul s English School, Bengaluru) and Lakshay Kumar (Jiva Public School, Faridabad) of classes XI and XII were first and second runners up respectively.
