Suspected hit-and-run driver hurt after crashing into semi truck in Escondido

ESCONDIDO, Calif. (CNS) - A suspected hit-and-run driver was in critical condition Tuesday morning after he crashed into a big rig parked on an Escondido street, police said.
The crash happened about 8:20 p.m. Monday on Felicita Road near Montview Drive, just north of Interstate 15, said Escondido police Sgt. T. Jimenez.
Investigators determined a 26-year-old man struck at least one vehicle while traveling southbound on Felicita Road, then crashed into a big rig tow truck parked near Montview Drive, Jimenez said.
The driver, who was not wearing a seatbelt, was partially ejected through the windshield of his vehicle, the sergeant said. His vehicle also caught fire, but officers were able to pull him from the wreckage before he was caught in the blaze.
One Airlifted After Helicopter Lands On 14 Freeway Following Agua Dulce Crash
One patient was airlifted after a helicopter landed on the 14 Freeway following a crash in Agua Dulce Thursday evening.
Just after 3:45 p.m., reports were received of a traffic collision involving a semi-truck on the southbound 14 Freeway north of Agua Dulce Canyon Road, according to Marvin Lim, spokesperson with the Los Angeles County fire Department.
“We have one patient who was extricated from their vehicle,” Lim said. “They are now on their way to an area hospital via helicopter.”
Initial reports from California Highway Patrol (CHP) traffic logs indicate that a vehicle reportedly collided head-on with a semi-truck.
Southbound 14 Freeway Blocked Due To Rollover Crash Near Agua Dulce
A rollover crash blocked all southbound lanes of the 14 Freeway near Escondido Canyon Road near Agua Dulce Sunday afternoon.
Just before 2:50 p.m., reports were received of a traffic collision on the southbound 14 Freeway near Escondido Canyon Road in Agua Dulce. The reports indicated that at least two vehicles involved were rolled over.
“The crash was two vehicles and a semi (truck),” said Supervisor Bernard Peters with the Los Angeles County Fire Department. “The two vehicles were overturned near the median.”
No occupants were trapped in the vehicles, however two people were transported to a nearby hospital, according to Peters.

ESCONDIDO (CNS) Two men sleeping in bushes died when a 13-year-old girl who allegedly took her mother s car attempted to flee from Escondido police, authorities said Saturday.
The crash was reported about 11:20 p.m. Friday at Mission Avenue and Ash Street. According to Escondido police Lt. Kevin Toth, a police officer had stopped the car near Mission Avenue and Gamble Street for a traffic violation.

ESCONDIDO, Calif. (CNS) - A motorcyclist was traveling at high speed when he collided with a pick-up truck on Interstate 15 in Escondido and was thrown into traffic lanes, where he was struck by multiple vehicles, the California Highway Patrol reported Monday.
The CHP is seeing witnesses to the collision, which occurred about 9:55 p.m. Sunday near Via Rancho Parkway.
A 48-year-old man from Chula Vista was riding a Harley Davidson Softail on the Centre City Parkway on-ramp to the southbound I-15 at a high rate of speed, according to CHP Officer Mark Latulippe. As the motorcyclist transitioned from the ramp onto the freeway, he sideswiped a Toyota Tundra traveling in the far right lane, the officer said.
