Athletics association head wants more funding for elite athletes

Everton Cornelius, believes there should be a national plan where funding for elite athletes is concerned.
The official, who was responding to questions regarding the qualifying of athletes for the Tokyo Olympics slated for July 23 to August 8, said it will take a tremendous amount of funding to qualify a satisfactory amount of athletes for major games like the Olympics, adding that it could not be done solely on NOC and association resources.

Members of the public will not be allowed to utilise the recently refurbished YASCO Sports Complex for exercise or recreational purposes.
This is according to President of the Antigua and Barbuda Athletics Association (ABAA)
Everton Cornelius, who is also a member of the management committee overseeing the day to day running of the facility.

The Antigua and Barbuda Athletics Association (ABAA) has targeted a date in June for the staging of its first senior National Track & Field Championships since 2016.
This was revealed by president of the organisation,
Everton Cornelius, who said the association is working hard to put on the competition following a five-year hiatus.
“We are looking at June 19 and 20 and we are watching to see how things pan out and see if we could really have our nationals because we are trying really hard to have it. We are also going to start to have some development meets, maybe, in the next week or two so we could start looking at our athletes,” he said.
