(WFIE) - Evansville firefighters were honored for their efforts in a March house fire. The Evansville Fire Merit Commission presented a company citation to members of EFD’s Engine 10. The crew responded to the Firefighters rescued two people from the second story on the backside of the home. Two people were treated on the scene for possible smoke inhalation. “When you work with a great crew, it doesn’t seem like I did anything special. It means a lot to get an award like this with the brothers and sisters I work with,” said Lt. Michael Steiner with the Evansville Fire Department.

(WFIE) - One man was taken to the hospital after a crash involving a stolen vehicle early Sunday morning. According to the Evansville Police Department, crews were called to Lobo Lounge for a car theft in progress. The victim told police that someone stole his vehicle from the lot and was last seen heading westbound on Louisana St. towards First Ave. Shortly after that, police say they were called to a single-vehicle crash on N. First Ave. and NW Fourth St. We’re told the vehicle involved in the crash matched the description of the stolen vehicle.

(WFIE) - The Evansville Fire Department is investigating a vacant house fire that happened early Saturday morning. Crews responded to the 1000 block of N. 1st Ave. for a possible house fire just before 4:30. EFD says a passerby noticed smoke in the area, and the second call came from an off-duty firefighter calling this a working fire. According to EFD, this is a vacant house with some homeless activity reported as recently as Friday night by a neighbor. They say the fire was considered extinguished just after 4:50.
