• Begins Fasting, Prayers Against Insecurity Ebonyi State Government says it has ordered natural doctors and trado-medical practitioners to register with the state Commissioner of Police and the state Ministries of Health and Internal Security and Border Peace, as part of its grand strategy to spread its dragnet in combating spiraling security challenges in the state. The government also maintained that it has put machinery in motion to ensure that all purveyors and enablers of false and malicious report, otherwise called fake news, are tracked and prosecuted, stressing that they constitute gross conveyors of insecurity. The state Commissioner for Information and Orientation, Barrister Orji Uchenna Orji, in a statement made available to The Guardian, disclosed that those decisions were part of resolutions reached at the state Executive Council meeting.
Gunmen have attacked Abaomege Police Station in Onicha Local Government Area of Ebonyi State, killing an officer in a fresh attack on security formation in the southeast.
It was gathered that the hoodlums stormed the facility on Saturday night, shooting sporadically and injuring another officer.
The state Commissioner for Internal Security, Border Peace and Conflict Resolution, Stanley Emegha, confirmed the attack to
Channels Television on Sunday.
He said one officer lost his life while another police officer on duty sustained injuries, adding that the gunmen carried sophisticated arms.
According to the commissioner, the attack on the police station was not totally successful as the gunmen failed to gain full access to the station.

Ebonyi State Governor David Umahi, on Wednesday, declared there was no iota of agitation in the criminalities being perpetrated by bandits across the land, who were currently masquerading as members of the outlawed Indigenous People of Biafra’s Eastern Security Network.
The visibly angry Governor was reacting to the spates of killings of security agents, civilians and destructions of national assets across the South-East geo-political zone, where he superintends as Chairman of Governors’ Forum.
Umahi stated this during an expanded security meeting with service chiefs and stakeholders, which held at his office at the Centenary City, Abakaliki, on Wednesday.

The chairman of the Southeast governor’s forum and governor of Ebonyi State, David Umahi, on Wednesday, said that the Indigenous People of Biafra,(IPOB) were not responsible for most of the numerous attacks in parts of the state.
Umahi made this known while briefing journalists on some decisions reached during this week security council meeting, held in Abakiliki.
He added that the hoodlums hide under the umbrella of IPOB to carry out their evil attacks.
The governor drew his view from the recent incident which happened on Tuesday at Onueke in Ezza South Local Government Area of the state where unknown gunmen attacked a bank.

GOVERNOR David Umahi of Ebonyi State, yesterday, gave security agencies 72 hours to bring the killers of two soldiers, a policeman and a civilian in the state to book.
He imposed a curfew on entry and exit points in the state.
The state government also denied the rumour making the rounds that herdsmen attacked school children in the state.
Umahi handed down the charge at a press briefing immediately after an enlarged security council meeting at the new Government House, Abakaliki.
