Confusion in Ebonyi over rumored herdsmen attack on schools

The Commissioner for Security and Border Peace and Conflict resolution, Mr. Stanley Okoro-emegha, stated this in Abakaliki while reacting to the allegations that Fulani herdmen invaded some schools in the State. Vanguard gathered that children on Wednesday morning were seen running back to their various homes alleging that suspected Fulani Herdsmen were attacking schools. “fulani people want to kill us oooo Fulani people want to kill us ” According to the Commissioner: “They saw some people; this Hausa people that sell cows at the back of Government House carrying their cows and one of their cow missed and entered into a school and they now said they’re Fulanis and started running. As I speak, the children were not attacked. I have sent people to the place and I have also called the teachers of the school to return back to their school

Gunmen attack bank, kill police officer, cart away cash in Ebonyi

Views: 282 Unknown gunmen on Tuesday killed a police officer whose name is yet to be identified at Onueke market in Ezza South Local Government Area of Ebonyi State. An eyewitness, who spoke to journalists on the condition of anonymity, said the unknown gunmen equally set ablaze a car after robbing one of the popular commercial banks located at Onueke market. It was gathered that no fewer than three civilians were reportedly shot and dispossessed of their valuables by the rampaging gunmen who stormed the busy Onueke town. The policeman that was killed, it was gathered, alongside his colleagues, were trying to repel the hoodlums who held the town hostage for more than an hour, but was unluckily shot dead by the robbers.

Umahi says IPOB not responsible for most attacks in Ebonyi, imposes curfew

He added that the hoodlums hide under the umbrella of IPOB to carry out their evil attacks. The governor drew his view from the recent incident which happened on Tuesday at Onueke in Ezza South Local Government Area of the state where unknown gunmen attacked a bank. A reliable source said that hoodlums who were armed stormed that area with seven motorcycles. He noted that the attackers, after attacking a bank situated at Onueke, stormed the quarry clusters in Umuoghara in Ezza North LGA to steal and cause mayhem to traders in the area. Umahi gave 72 hours to security operatives in the state to apprehend the hoodlums and prosecute them in accordance with the law.

Insecurity: Umahi orders security agencies to fish out killers of 2 soldiers, police officers in Ebonyi

Daily Post Nigeria Published The Governor of Ebonyi State, David Umahi, on Wednesday, gave a 72-hour ultimatum to heads of DSS, police, civil defense and other security agencies to arrest the killers of two soldiers and police officers in the state. Umahi made this known while briefing journalists shortly after an enlarged security emergency meeting that took place at the new Government House, Abakaliki. The governor, however, tasked unknown gunmen to stop attacking, killing security agencies as well as terrorizing innocent citizens of the southeast in the name of agitation. He equally declared curfew in the state from 8:00pm to 6:00am, and, however, banned movement from all entrance and exit points in the state, stressing that anyone found violating the order will be arrested and prosecuted.
