Swampscott s 2021 election season is earnestly getting underway: As of press time, a half-dozen residents had pulled nomination papers from Swampscott Town Clerk Susan Duplin’s office for town-officer seats.
In this election cycle, eight town-officer seats and at least 108 Town Meeting member seats open up in the Tuesday, April 27 municipal election.
For the three-year term opening on Swampscott Board of Selectmen, Mary Webster of Elmwood Road pulled nomination papers, setting up a potential challenge against Peter Spellios.
Spellios, the chairman of and the most senior member serving on the Swampscott Board of Selectmen, has pulled papers for re-election to a third terms.
DEDHAM A Worcester man pleaded not guilty Wednesday in Norfolk County Superior Court to charges related to a fatal shooting last fall in Franklin.
Marcus Thibodeau, 26, of Worcester, pleaded not guilty to carrying a dangerous weapon; possession of ammunition without a license; and two counts of alleging witness intimidation during his arraignment Wednesday morning.
DeAndre Akeem Scott, a 2012 Franklin High graduate who was most recently living in Attleboro, was fatally shot in the early hours of Oct. 29 at an Elmwood Road home where the mother of his child now Thibodeau s girlfriend lives.
Thibodeau was released on $1,000 cash bail and ordered to have no contact with either witnesses in the case or Scott’s family, other than his girlfriend, Michaella Taddeo.

BATAVIA, Ohio (FOX19) - Ohio 132 is open again after an overturned truck spilled its load of corn, blocking all lanes for several hours early Friday.
The crash was reported just after midnight on Ohio 132 between Jackson Pike and Elmwood Road. The road was shut down for more than eight hours before reopening by 8:30 a.m.
