Rizen comes into its own at Elizabeth Baptist in Shelby Every week services at Elizabeth Baptist Church are divided into four groups. Two of them aren t what one expect from a traditional service. Led by a group of 10 teenagers they are part live concert, part sermon. At the heart of it all is Rizen - a youth band comprised of Michael Miller, Nathan Matheson, Nathan Jiang, James Pribble, Christ Fraser, Rosemary Costner, Makayla White, Sammy Campbell and Laura Wells. For nearly a year the group has been leading services at Elizabeth Church, performing contemporary gospel and Christian hits interspersed with live-streamed messages from the church pastor.

Feb 20, 2021 YOUNGSTOWN Lucy Mae Connor, 79, a mother, grandmother, sister and friend, entered into eternal rest Wednesday, Feb. 10, 2021, and is now home with her Heavenly Father. Lucy Mae Connor, affectionately known as “Cookie,” was born Dec. 5, 1941, in Youngstown, the daughter of John Clark and Thelma Fitzgerald. She attended East High School, and after high school, was employed at Southside Hospital for 13 years. She was also employed at The Hagstrom House and the Youngstown Metropolitan Housing Authority. Her love for people led her to become a foster mom, also. One of her greatest gifts was her passionate concern for others. Lucy had a love for crocheting blankets, crossword puzzles and caring for the sick and less fortunate. She spent most of her available time doing such.
