Buffalo’s City Council voted to release the remaining retainage funds to Barnum Construction which were held by the city concerning the Buffalo Business Park project.
According to City Works Director Les Hook, Barnum has completed the remaining “punch list” items on the project and was requesting the release of the remaining funds to them.
The punch list consisted of the installation of additional fire hydrants in the business park, which required warmer weather to complete.
The council released $94,000 back in January and held another $94,000 back until the punch list items were completed.
The project is now complete and Barnum Construction has been paid in full.

Buffalo’s City Council voted to release 50% of the remaining retainage funds to Barnum Construction which were held by the city concerning the Buffalo Business Park project.
City Works Director Les Hook explained to the council what Barnum was requesting from the city and why.
Brent Bennett, with Nelson Engineering, explained further.
Bennett said if the city chose to release 50% of the retainage, what they were holding is still more than the amount of work that needs to be completed in the spring.
The council voted to release just over $94,000 to Barnum Construction, with an equal amount retained by the city.
