Role of Fredericton s poet laureate still undecided
After a lengthy discussion council defeated a motion 6-5 that would have seen the role changed slightly, allowing the poet to not read at every council meeting and requiring four to six original poems.

Commander Comatose, was well-received, and he has been growing up and writing albums about it along the way, making music that people immediately connect to.
While Parker Longbough typically mines a vein of ’90s-era indie rock.

ST. GEORGE A paraglider suffered serious injuries Friday after authorities say he fell to the ground in an area outside St. George.
The incident took place about 5 p.m. in an area of Washington County just outside St. George, near the Zen Trailhead southwest of the city, according to Washington County Sheriff s Sgt. Nate Abbott.
Witnesses told authorities that there was a change in the wind, which caused the man s parachute to collapse, Abbott said. The man, who is about 35 years old, fell to the ground and he suffered some serious injuries.
The man was transported to Dixie Regional Medical Center in St. George via a medical helicopter, Abbott said.
PRICE Authorities safely rescued 13 puppies early Friday morning after the cargo van they were being transported in crashed and rolled over on U.S. Highway 6.
The crash took place about 2 a.m. on Highway 6 just west of Price, according to Utah Highway Patrol Trooper Bret Bennett.
Two people were transporting about 13 puppies from Texas to Oregon in a cargo van, Bennett said. Investigators believe the woman driving may have been fatigued when the van went through a fence and off the road for about 200 feet, he added.
The van then went up an embankment and rolled onto its side, Bennett said.
Proposal would see Fredericton motel converted to affordable housing
The John Howard Society is applying for federal money through the Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation s rapid housing initiative that would allow it to buy the City Motel in Fredericton and renovate it for housing units.
