WALLOWA â A man living in Wallowa faces multiple counts of sex abuse of a child in Utah.
Wallowa County sheriff s deputies on Wednesday, March 31 arrested Michael Anthony Alexis, 52, on a felony warrant out of the federal district court in Washington County, Utah, for four counts of aggravated sex abuse of a child, according to a police report.
Washington County detective Sgt. Nate Abbott said Thursday, April 8, the alleged offenses took place over about a year s time from 2019-20. Although he couldn t identify the victim, Utah law indicates anyone younger than 14 is considered a child. The charge indicates it was a child, Abbott said.
ST. GEORGE A paraglider suffered serious injuries Friday after authorities say he fell to the ground in an area outside St. George.
The incident took place about 5 p.m. in an area of Washington County just outside St. George, near the Zen Trailhead southwest of the city, according to Washington County Sheriff s Sgt. Nate Abbott.
Witnesses told authorities that there was a change in the wind, which caused the man s parachute to collapse, Abbott said. The man, who is about 35 years old, fell to the ground and he suffered some serious injuries.
The man was transported to Dixie Regional Medical Center in St. George via a medical helicopter, Abbott said.

ST. GEORGE, Utah (AP) A 35-year-old man was hospitalized with serious injuries after crashing while paragliding west of St. George Friday.
Sgt. Nate Abbott with Washington County Sheriff’s Office says the man was paragliding in the area near Zen Trailhead around 5 p.m. when he lost control and plummeted to the ground, KUTV reported.
“Witnesses say the wind changed causing the paraglider’s chute to collapse,” Abbott said.
It’s unclear how far the man fell, but witnesses were able to render aid to the man until Washington County Sheriff Search and Rescue and paramedics arrived.
