Several Kiwi Super Rugby franchises were reportedly caught up in a bizarre hoax involving pop superstar Bruno Mars, prompting the Crusaders to lay a formal complaint with the police.
In the build up to the Super Rugby Aotearoa final, which concluded last weekend with the Crusaders beating the Chiefs to claim their fifth straight title, three New Zealand teams reportedly received calls offering the services of Mars, the Grammy award winning singer who has sold over 150 million records worldwide.
“People may collapse or drop, foam at the mouth, or experience temporary paralysis,” said the notification. A coroner’s report in 2019 found more than 70 deaths in the previous two years are likely to have been caused by synthetic cannabinoids, creating growing concerns among health and addiction experts.

Confirming Maclachlan had been let go, a spokesperson from Warner Australasia, in Sydney, said the company was committed to âproviding a safe, professional environment for all our teamâ.
âOur Code of Conduct is very clear regarding harassment of any kind. All allegations are treated seriously and action is taken if any employeeâs behaviour has breached that code.
âWe investigated what we believed to be an isolated incident in 2018, with the assistance of an external expert, and we went further than they advised with disciplinary actions. Now that weâve learned about these additional incidents, weâve terminated Scott Maclachlanâs employment contract with immediate effect,â the spokesperson said.
