Several Kiwi Super Rugby franchises were reportedly caught up in a bizarre hoax involving pop superstar Bruno Mars, prompting the Crusaders to lay a formal complaint with the police.
In the build up to the Super Rugby Aotearoa final, which concluded last weekend with the Crusaders beating the Chiefs to claim their fifth straight title, three New Zealand teams reportedly received calls offering the services of Mars, the Grammy award winning singer who has sold over 150 million records worldwide.

Confirming Maclachlan had been let go, a spokesperson from Warner Australasia, in Sydney, said the company was committed to âproviding a safe, professional environment for all our teamâ.
âOur Code of Conduct is very clear regarding harassment of any kind. All allegations are treated seriously and action is taken if any employeeâs behaviour has breached that code.
âWe investigated what we believed to be an isolated incident in 2018, with the assistance of an external expert, and we went further than they advised with disciplinary actions. Now that weâve learned about these additional incidents, weâve terminated Scott Maclachlanâs employment contract with immediate effect,â the spokesperson said.
Scott Maclachlan, the man who discovered Lorde at the age of 13 and took her to international superstardom, has admitted years of harmful behaviour and said he was in intensive psychotherapy. “I do accept the harmful impact of my past behaviour and I try every day to repair the damage and prevent it happening again,” Maclachlan told Stuff. Maclachlan confirmed he lost his position as Senior Vice President at Warner Australasia and was banned from Warner Music’s Australian offices and gigs, after the company commissioned a sexual harassment investigation in 2018. A former employee at the Auckland-based management company he founded, Saiko Management, said Maclachlan also sexually harassed and emotionally manipulated her while she worked for him. Maclachlan has admitted her claims are true.
