Sahakar Bharati demands separate Ministry for co-op sector

The National Executive Committee of Sahakar Bharati which is going to be held later this month in Delhi, is going to pitch for the creation of a separate Ministry for the Co-operative sector at the national level. To be held on 27th & 28th February at the NCUI Auditorium, New Delhi, the NC is going to deliberate many issues including the fact that the concentration of economic and political power in the hands of a few is not conducive for a balanced and equitable growth. Talking to Indian Cooperative Sahakar Bharati’s National General Secretary Dr Uday Joshi said a cross section of co-operators are opposed to the idea of merger of DCCBs with State Co-op Banks. A full three hours debate will follow PowerPoint Presentation on the subject in the national executive, he added.

Fractured verdict: Sah Bharati welcomes new EC, Anaskar not happy

The urban cooperative banking sector is divided on the composition of an Expert Committee, announced by the RBI on Monday for the growth of urban co-op banks. While the RSS affiliated body Sahakar Bharati has welcomed the move, Maharashtra Federation Chief Vidyadhar Anaskar registered his protest raising several points. Welcoming the committee, Sahakar Bharati National Organizing Secretary Uday Joshi said, “Sahakar Bharati Welcomes the constitution of expert committee for UCBs. The report should pave the way for the orderly growth of the UCB sector”. Sahakar Bharati also dismissed the charge that the Committee has been partial in the sense that only one representation (Jyotindra Mehta) from the UCB sector has been included.

Co-operators meet Sherpa; discusses Co-op Development Forum

Sahakar Bharati leader Satish Marathe, Uday Joshi, D N Thakur and others met India’s Sherpa to the G20 and former Union Minister Suresh Prabhu on Tuesday at his office in Delhi and discussed a host of issues pertaining to the cooperative sector. The constitution of the Cooperative Development Forum (CDF) also came up during the discussion, among others. Talking to Indian Cooperative Marathe said, “We met Sri Prabhu and discussed the issue of the establishment of the Cooperative Development Forum (CDF). We hope that in the middle of March, the inauguration of the CDF will be held. The office will be in Delhi and the forum will work to strengthen the cooperative movement of the country”, he added.

Sah Bharati demands inclusion of co-operators in RBI s EC

Sahakar Bharati has hailed the decision of the Reserve Bank of India for the constitution of the Expert Committee (EC) for UCBs and has demanded to include co-operators in the Committee. In the messages sent by Sahakar Bharati, National General Secretary Uday Joshi, he said, “Sahakar Bharati hails the constitution of Expert Committee (EC) for UCBs vide RBI Governor Statement dated 5 th Feb 2021.” Sahakar Bharati had been constantly pressing for the constitution of the EC, particularly after enactment of Amendments in the BR ACT & fall in the number of UCBs across the country, added Joshi. However, Sahakar Bharati also expects constitution of a broad-based EC which will consider important points for the overall development of the sector. The EC should have officials & co-operators drafting a vision for the growth of the UCB Sector including issuing of licences for new UCBs.

Sah Bharati welcomes budget; says much of its demands met

Sahakar Bharati has welcomed most of the announcements made by Finance Minister Smt Nirmala Sitaraman in her Central Budget speech on 1st Feb 2021 pertaining to the Cooperative Sector and says many of its demands have been met. Reacting to the budget, Uday Joshi, National General Secretary, Sahakar Bharati said “ Smt Nirmala ji has announced plans to extend EASE OF DOING BUSINESS NORMS to Multi State CoOp Societies which Sahakar Bharati had been requesting since long.” FM has assured to organize a suitable machinery for raising funds for CoOps by issuing shares & bonds. Now co-operatives can raise capital by approaching the capital market, added Satish Marathe.
