Sahakar Bharati meets Sikkim CM; Seeks support for co-ops Sahakar Bharati team was led by Satish Marathe Sahakar Bharati is making hard efforts to revive the cooperative movement in North-Eastern states. In this context, the Sahakar Bharati delegation met the Sikkim Chief Minister Prem Singh Tamang-Golay at his official residence recently. The delegation included the founder members Satish Marathe, National Organizing Secretary Sanjay Pachpor, National General Secretary Dr Uday Joshi, Patron Jyotindrabhai Mehta, Sahakar Bharati State President Mangal Jit Rai, NCDFI, MD K. C. Superka and some others. The meeting was held in the evening and lasted one and a half hours. During the meeting Sahakar Bharati raised a host of issues pertaining to the cooperative sector and urged the Chief Minister to give his support. The discussion was mainly about amending the state cooperative act.

Sahakar Bharati demands separate Ministry for co-op sector

The National Executive Committee of Sahakar Bharati which is going to be held later this month in Delhi, is going to pitch for the creation of a separate Ministry for the Co-operative sector at the national level. To be held on 27th & 28th February at the NCUI Auditorium, New Delhi, the NC is going to deliberate many issues including the fact that the concentration of economic and political power in the hands of a few is not conducive for a balanced and equitable growth. Talking to Indian Cooperative Sahakar Bharati’s National General Secretary Dr Uday Joshi said a cross section of co-operators are opposed to the idea of merger of DCCBs with State Co-op Banks. A full three hours debate will follow PowerPoint Presentation on the subject in the national executive, he added.
