Oliver Davies bludgeoned five straight sixes as the Sydney Thunder chalked up the second biggest Big Bash win in history with a 129-run pummelling of the Melbourne Renegades on Saturday.
Davies racked up 48 from just 23 balls in the Thunder’s club record total of 209-8, before leg-spinner Tanveer Sangha’s 4-14 helped have the Renegades all out for 80 in 12.2 overs.
It continued a horror run for the Renegades, who now have the worst two losses in the competition’s history in the space of two weeks after being flogged by 145 runs by the Sydney Sixers.

For the second straight night, the Big Bash League has been rocked by a howler of an umpiring decision, once again stirring calls for the introduction of DRS.
Heat batsman Tom Cooper was given out LBW during his side’s run chase against the Strikers. This is despite the ball very clearly deflecting off of Cooper’s bat.
Fox Sports commentator and cricket legend Shane Warne was livid upon seeing the replay.
“Oh my goodness. What is going on with this umpiring, Howie (Mark Howard)? Something has to be done, this is just ridiculous,” Warne said.

Big Bash League (BBL) action dished up a shocking umpiring decision that has intensified calls for DRS in the competition.
The incident took place in the match between the Perth Scorchers and the Sydney Thunder.
With the Thunder chasing 153 for victory, the Scorchers thought they had dismissed opener Usman Khawaja with Andrew Tye s first ball of the sixth over.
Having gone on the drive, Khawaja instead edged through to the wicketkeeper and the sound was heard by everybody on the field.
To Tye s disbelief, though, umpire Simon Lightbody gave the decision not out , explaining that he thought the noise had been generated by Khawaja s bat hitting the ground.

Mitch Marsh has become the latest player to back calls for a review system in the Big Bash after its absence was again exposed in the Sydney Thunder s win over Perth.
Usman Khawaja survived an appeal for caught behind trying to drive Andrew Tye, with replays showing the batsman had clearly edged the ball.
