Army Reservists have spent two weeks on Op ROSE, the military s code word for the operational deployment of troops in support of the Department of Transport in the testing of all lorry drivers and hauliers bound for continental Europe.

Soldiers from Norwich have been deployed to help with the logistical challenge of testing all lorry drivers and hauliers crossing the Channel.
Since the Kent strain of the coronavirus, the government turned to the military to help keep on top of testing and registering the tens of thousands of drivers heading to Europe.
1/1 HAMPSHIRE soldiers are helping to administer Covid tests to thousands of lorry drivers bound for continental Europe. The soldiers, who have been working 12-hour shifts in sub-zero temperatures, include members of Southampton-based C Company of the 4th Battalion Princess of Wales’s Royal Regiment. Private Sam Bell, from Southampton, is among the reserve soldiers who volunteered to help out. Sam, who has been furloughed from his job, said: I had been working in Winchester as a lifeguard but as that came to a halt because of the lockdown, I decided to volunteer for this. There are two of us from C Company.
