Napa County is embarking on a $25 million road-fixing push in the unincorporated areas outside of cities during 2021 that is unprecedented in recent memory.
âRoughly double as compared to 2020, and that was a bigger year than any previous,â Public Works Director Steven Lederer said.
Some of the projects will be on widely traveled roads, such as Silverado Trail. Many will be off-the-beaten track, amid the forests of Mount Veeder, the chaparral of Soda Canyon and the vineyards and rural homes of Coombsville.

Drivers should expect one-lane closures on Highway 101 in northern Sonoma County overnight. Caltrans crews started work last night on a six-month project to replace drainage culverts along eight miles of the highway. The closures will be between Dry Creek Road in Healdsburg and Canyon Road in Geyserville. Work will happen Sunday through Thursday from 8pm to 6am and it is expected to last through late October.

The City of Belgrade is applying for state grant funding for development of pedestrian and bicycle facilities, infrastructure improvements for access to public transportation, recreational trails, or safe routes to school projects. The public is being asked for its input on a proposed project for a shared-use path along Dry Creek Road.
The Long Range Transportation Plan and the Parks & Recreation Master Plan both identified the need for a shared use path along Dry Creek Road from Cameron Avenue to Cruiser Lane. These improvements would provide bicycle and pedestrian connections to Lions Park, the Senior Center, and Belgrade schools from neighborhoods on the north side of the city. A 20-year-old Windsor man is being identified as the victim of a fatal motorcycle crash on Dry Creek Road, north of Dutcher Creek Road. The CHP says Andrew Kohlmann was riding his Suzuki motorcycle Wednesday evening with his friend who was riding ahead of him. For still unknown reasons, Kohlmann ran his bike off the road and collided with a mailbox and a street sign. At first, his friend didn’t notice Kohlmann wasn’t behind him, and had to turn around to look for him. Kohlmann was pronounced dead upon arrival of medical personnel.
