Thunderbolt 4 is a relatively new technology, and we re just starting to see PC accessories like docking stations catch up. Razer was one of the first to jump on the trend with the Thunderbolt 4 Dock Chroma, and in true Razer fashion it has included customizable RGB underglow lighting to go with the black finish. It has nine ports, ten if you include the host hookup, and passthrough charging with up to 90W of power. I ve been using it for a few weeks to see how well it works and whether or not it s worth the price.

The CalDigit Element Hub is available from CalDigit for about $200. It s expected that models will hit other retailers in the future the CalDigit TS3 Plus and CalDigit USB-C Pro Dock are both now available elsewhere but for now the official site is the only place to find the hub.
This is one of the first hubs to employ Thunderbolt 4 and USB4 technology. A long time ago, I interviewed former Xbox CVP Mike Ybarra about the future of Xbox, and what Universal Windows Platform (UWP) apps could mean for the platform. Jokingly, we discussed getting the UWP version of Microsoft Office onto Xbox, enabling users to potentially turn their consoles into productivity devices. Well, thanks to the new Microsoft Edge, we re almost there (???).
There are a few bugs, given that this is pre-release software available in the Xbox Insider Program, but I am typing this article up on my Xbox, with full mouse and keyboard support, using Microsoft Onedrive s Office 365 Microsoft Word for the web. Just for fun.

CalDigit has launched a new Thunderbolt 4 dock this week in the form of the Element Hub which offers four Thunderbolt 4 ports with USB 4 connectivity. Equipped with eight ports in total including four USB-A 10Gb/s and capable of providing connectivity to 8K display or dual 4K 60 Hz displays. The hub is now available to preorder priced at $140 offering a $30 saving off the recommended retail price of $180 from the CalDigit for a limited time.
Shipping throughout the United States is expected to take place later this month and the docking hub is also available to preorder in the United Kingdom with delivery expected to take place next month during March 2021. Element Hub is not only for Thunderbolt 4 users, but is also backwards compatible with Thunderbolt 3, USB-C, and USB 4.
