Sindh’s chief minister said on Thursday that Rs3 trillion are needed to transform Karachi into a modern city. Syed Murad Ali Shah was responding to the queries of lawmakers during the provincial assembly’s question hour related to the finance department.
The chief executive, who also holds the portfolio of the finance department, said his government would have been able to do much work for the city’s development if there had been additional funds available for it.
He lamented that his government had to allocate less funds for the city’s development because of the unavailability of sufficient financial resources for the purpose. He mentioned that the provincial government had been announcing mega development projects in every budget only for Karachi since 2016. (MAHB) is eyeing a total investment of RM1.3bil for Subang Airport’s regeneration development (SZB) that will transform it from an airport operator to an ecosystem master developer and aviation hub in the Asia-Pacific.
KLIA Aeropolis Sdn Bhd head Randhill Singh (pic) said RM300mil would be needed for the common infrastructures and RM1bil for building lettable facilities such as hangers; factories; maintenance, repair and operations (MRO); and workshops.
He said SZB would leverage the same global technology platforms and vendors used in KL International Airport (KLIA) to have access to global practices and standards.

Tata Steel is transforming its Corby steel tube making site in the UK’s East Midlands to give the business the best chance of a strong future.
Work has started at the 150-acre site which produces vital products for everything from sports stadium and iconic skyscrapers such as the Shard in London to hospital beds and renewable green energy schemes around the world. Workers at the site produce steel tube products from steel made at the company’s Port Talbot works.
