Sturgis Public Schools will offer an “academic summer camp” for students entering first through ninth grade during the 2021-22 school year.
The camp is intended to help students who require extra assistance in learning, particularly gaps caused by the COVID-19 pandemic and shifted learning experiences.
Students will be selected for the academic camp based on academic criteria, teacher recommendation and federal guidelines attached to the funds being made available for the program, district officials said Monday.
Additionally, high school summer school for credit recovery aimed at current high school students will be expanded, with the assistance of federal CARES Act funds. Tentatively, Superintendent Art Ebert said, the following are guidelines set for each building level:
