Three militants were killed in an encounter with security forces in the Vailoo area of Kokernag in the Anantnag district of Jammu and Kashmir on Tuesday, police said. All terrorists have been killed in the encounter.
Bodies of the killed terrorists were retrieved from the site of encounter and they have been identified as Ilyas Ahmad Dar alias Sameer resident of Danwathpora Kokernag, Ubaid Shafi alias Abdullah resident of Batamaloo Srinagar, and Aqib Ahmad Lone alias Sahil resident of Khandaypora Kulgam.

New Delhi: At least three Lashkar-e-Toiba (LeT) terrorists were killed in an encounter with security forces in Anantnag district of Jammu and Kashmir on Tuesday (May 11), police said. The police recovered arms and ammunition including 1 AK-47 rifle, 2 pistols and incriminating materials from the site of encounter. All the recovered materials have been taken into case records for further investigation and to probe their complicity in other terror crimes.
Security forces launched a cordon and search operation at Vailoo in Komernag area of the district early on Tuesday following information about presence of militants there, a police official said. SRINAGAR: Three local Lashker-e-Taiba terrorists were killed at Vailoo village in Kokernag area of south Kashmir’s Anantnag district during an encounter on Tuesday, police said.
Police acting on specific input about presence of three terrorists in a residential house at village Sheikhpora, Kokernag, launched a joint cordon and search operation along with Army’s 19RR and CRPF.
“During the search operation, as the presence of (militants) got ascertained, they were given an opportunity to surrender. However they fired indiscriminately upon the joint search party which retaliated, leading to an encounter,” a police spokesperson said.
The joint team also rescued all the civilians trapped in the crossfire and halted the operation for the time to ensure safe evacuation from the area.

Srinagar, May 11 : Three militants of Lashkar-e Toiba were killed in an encounter in South Kashmir’s Anantnag district today while an Over Ground Worker of militants was arrested with ammunition in Kupwara.
Inspector General of Police Kashmir, Vijay Kumar told Excelsior that three local militants were killed in Vailoo area of Kokernag belt in South Kashmir’s Anantnag district during a joint operation launched by Police, Army’s 19 RR and CRPF on specific information about the presence of militants in the area.
He said that militants were repeatedly asked to surrender but they refused and were killed in the gun battle. He said that security forces rescued all the civilians trapped in the gunfire and halted the operation for till the evacuation of people from the area of gunfight.
