New Delhi: At least three Lashkar-e-Toiba (LeT) terrorists were killed in an encounter with security forces in Anantnag district of Jammu and Kashmir on Tuesday (May 11), police said. The police recovered arms and ammunition including 1 AK-47 rifle, 2 pistols and incriminating materials from the site of encounter. All the recovered materials have been taken into case records for further investigation and to probe their complicity in other terror crimes.

SRINAGAR: Three local Lashker-e-Taiba terrorists were killed at Vailoo village in Kokernag area of south Kashmir’s Anantnag district during an encounter on Tuesday, police said.
Police acting on specific input about presence of three terrorists in a residential house at village Sheikhpora, Kokernag, launched a joint cordon and search operation along with Army’s 19RR and CRPF.
“During the search operation, as the presence of (militants) got ascertained, they were given an opportunity to surrender. However they fired indiscriminately upon the joint search party which retaliated, leading to an encounter,” a police spokesperson said.
The joint team also rescued all the civilians trapped in the crossfire and halted the operation for the time to ensure safe evacuation from the area.
SRINAGAR: Three Lashkar-e-Taiba terrorists holed up in a house at Kokernag in south Kashmir’s Anantnag district were shot dead by security forces on Tuesday after they refused an offer to surrender and opened fire at the advancing team, J&K Police said.
Villagers caught in the crossfire were safely evacuated after the joint team of the police, Army and CRPF paused the operation for some time to ensure there were no civilian casualties.
The 4am encounter took place after security forces zeroed in on a house at Sheikhpora village in the Vailoo area of Kokernag, based on intelligence inputs about the presence of three Lashkar terrorists there. The trio had been given the opportunity to surrender, but they chose to retaliate. All three were killed in the ensuing encounter, a police spokesperson said.

Anantnag (Jammu and Kashmir) [India], May 11 (ANI): One of three terrorists killed in the encounter that took place earlier today in Jammu and Kashmir s Anantnag district was involved in the Aari Bagh terror attack on the house of a Bharatiya Janata Party leader last month.
The terrorist has been identified as Ubaid Shafi. One of the killed terrorists Ubaid Shafi was involved in Aari Bagh terror attack which was carried out by Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) on the house of a BJP leader on April 1. In that attack, J&K Police cop Rameez Raja was martyred, the police said.
