MANITOWOC - Not up to cooking and looking for where to take Mom out for a nice meal on Mother’s Day?
Streetwise compiled a quick list of Lakeshore restaurants open Sunday for you to take that special lady in your life:
• Broken Plate Catering, 1306 Washington St., is open from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. and will be offering 50% off the price of a meal to mothers, along with a flower and a free mimosa or coffee.
• BRIX, 939 S. Eighth St., one of the latest hotspots in Manitowoc, is serving brunch from 10:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sunday. It is the only food the bar and grill is serving that day.
MANITOWOC - Two local chefs have advanced to a second round of a national Favorite Chef contest.
Greg Czekala, owner and chef at Broken Plate Catering and Diner, and Myke Hollahan, owner and chef at Holla Restaurant, are both vying for a chance to win $50,000 and acknowledgement in a two-page ad spread in Bon Appetit magazine through an online contest at Favorite Chef.
Favorite Chef profiles nominees with photos and biographies describing their love for cooking. Chefs must get through several rounds of voting, with a winner chosen in April.
Both local chefs made it through a first round of voting and were in first place within their brackets. The second round of voting ends Thursday.
