Keeping in view the sudden surge in COVID-19 infection cases in the Country in general and in UTs of Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh in particular, the
Jammu & Kashmir High Court on Monday (05
th April) decided to keep in abeyance its plan to resume physical hearing of cases till April 18.
Physical hearing stands suspended in J&K High Court as well as in the District and Subordinate Courts and Tribunals, and the proceedings shall be conducted through Virtual Mode.
Directions for J&K HC
Since March 2020, the high court has been holding proceedings through video conferencing and subsequently, a few benches started holding physical courts everyday on a rotation basis.
The SCBA and its Treasurer Meenesh Kumar Dubey, in the petition, has sought quashing of the SOP and a direction to the apex court’s Registry not to issue “any circular without consulting the Bar”.

The SC has asked the Centre as to how much financial liability will a divorced daughter of a freedom fighter incur if given family pension like an unmarried or a widowed daughter. A bench of justices UU Lalit and KM Joseph posed the question after the Centre told it if at all the court allows family pension to divorced daughters of freedom fighters besides the unmarried and widowed daughters, then it will incur a financial liability and open a Pandora s box. Supreme court to begin physical hearing from March 15

Come March 15, the Supreme Court will begin hybrid physical hearing after a gap of nearly one year, when it switched to hearing matters through video conferencing to contain the spread of Covid-19.
According to a circular issued on March 5, the top court will on an experimental basis begin final hearing on regular matters listed on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays through the hybrid mode.
