Detroit Lakes Holmes Theatre wants to brighten up holiday season with virtual concert offerings
The COVID-19 pandemic has hit performing arts venues particularly hard this year; Holmes Theatre Executive Director Amy Stoller Stearns has teamed up with some of her colleagues around the region to offer a series of virtual holiday concerts through the end of December concerts that will serve to not only to provide some much-needed Christmas spirit for area residents, but also drum up support to help these venues keep their doors open.

NEW ORLEANS (press release) – Executive Chef Ryan Prewitt and Chef de Cuisine Nicole Mills have announced a special menu will be served at Pêche Seafood Grill this New Year’s Eve. The pre-fixe menu will showcase Filipino food using local ingredients with a focus on Gulf seafood. Chef Nicole was born and raised in the Philippines. She grew up in a small town called Cagayan de Oro, in Northern Mindanao, where her family owned a bakery. Culinary traditions have always been part of the Filipino culture, and Chef Nicole is honored to share her heritage through this special menu. If you want to celebrate New Year’s Eve with Old-World British Charm, The Chesterfield will start its celebration at 7 p.min The Leopard Lounge with an Open Bar and Passed Hors d’oeuvres. At 8 p.m. you will be seated for a delectable four course dinner service, with choices of Foie Gras Terrine, Pan Seared Ahi Tuna and Chilled Jumbo Prawns as a starter, Heirloom Tomato Burrata as a second course, Prime Filet with Lobster Oscar, Primavera Risotto, Veal Chop or Pan Seared Chilean Sea Bass for the main course, and lastly the choice of a Passion Fruit Sorbet or Chocolate Hazelnut Opera Cake for dessert.
UPDATE: A report from NOLA.com says Lauren Daigle was not scheduled to play Dick Clark s Rockin New Year s Eve Celebration on ABC. Turns out, according to Louisiana Radio Network, when Lieutenant Governor Billy Nungesser found out Daigle would not be performing on the show he pulled a state contract helping to finance the event. Nungesser wanted the Christian singer to be on the show as she is an ambassador for his tourism department.
The city of New Orleans will now pick up the cost and the Fleur Dis Lis will still drop in New Orleans on ABC on New Year s Eve.
