A TEENAGER who videoed his friend kicking a 74-year-old man into the Mersey has walked free from court. The 16-year-old boy, who cannot be named for legal reasons, was told he was lucky not to be facing a manslaughter charge over the shocking attack on a stretch of the river in Howley back in April. He was handed a 12-month youth referral order on Thursday, June 6, after admitting a joint enterprise assault in connection with the incident. Warrington Magistrates Court heard that the pensioner was attacked as he stood on the banks of the water near to Riverside Retail Park, opposite an area known as Monkey Island, at around 2.30pm on Sunday, April 25.

A suspect has appeared in court accused of stabbing another man twice with a kitchen knife.
Warrington Magistrates Court A DAD who threw a six-week-old kitten across a room because he was annoyed it had fleas has avoided prison. Adam Routledge, of Stenhills Crescent in Runcorn, lost his temper after being bitten by the animal s fleas, Warrington Magistrates Court has heard. On Wednesday, prosecutor Angela Blackmore said the 36-year-old caused unnecessary suffering to a protected animal by banging the kitten on a wall, then throwing it across the room on August 29. She told the court how, at 9pm, officers were asked to attend Routledge s address, with reports saying there were children screaming about a cat being killed .
