A 16-year-old boy with a gunshot wound arrived at Waikato Hospital early on June 29, police said.
A teenager remains in critical condition due to a gunshot wound, and police have now made an arrest. Hamilton police on Friday charged “a local youth” with wounding with intent to cause grievous bodily harm, a statement from Hamilton City Area Commander Inspector Andrea McBeth said. That person is expected to appear in Youth Court on Saturday. The 16-year-old boy who was injured in the June 29 incident remains in critical condition in Waikato Hospital, McBeth said. At the time, police were “working to establish how and where the boy came to be injured, and who else may have been involved”.

A youth has been charged and appeared in court yesterday after fire ravaged a Rotorua home on Friday.
The person is next due to appear again in the Youth Court on May 18.
Police and Fire and Emergency NZ staff were called to Homedale St about 12.55pm. Two appliances were sent and the fire was out by 2.42pm.
The emergency service said they are investigating the fire.
All occupants of the house were accounted for.
