Final submissions before the Waitangi Tribunal are set to go ahead today against Oranga Tamariki, with National Urban Māori Authority chairwoman Lady Tureiti Moxon filing as one of the claimants.
Moxon s position on the matter is that Oranga Tamariki s current child protection system in Aotearoa does not work for Māori and says many of the Crown s own witnesses have agreed.

The event toasted the achievements of the sector across a variety of categories including areas of innovation, sustainability, and growth. The awards also recognized the efforts of the individuals who work within the industry.
Ian Wright, the Federation’s Chief Executive, said: “Every year, the FDF Awards is inundated with high calibre entries from across our industry. For 2020 the judging was particularly challenging, as every single entrant played a crucial role in feeding our country during the pandemic.

Covid-19 and Brexit have pushed the UK’s devolved governments further into the spotlight. That has created new tensions between Cardiff and London, while familiarising millions in England with the name of Wales’ first minister. Many in Wales hope the crisis will act as a spur to further divergence and decentralisation – with the next parliamentary term in Wales seen as a pivotal period for the devolution project. This is notably true in the spheres of justice and policing. The radical report of the Commission on Justice in Wales in 2019 was a landmark development, but there are ‘many, many barriers’ still to overcome if its 78 recommendations are to be realised.
