Updated: 9:02 AM EDT Jul 19, 2021 WLKY Digital Team The Louisville Ballet has launched a new initiative in an effort to build diversity. It’s called Ballet Bound, and it’s a scholarship program for kids ages 7-9. The program gives 20 kids from the area a chance to participate in a weekly camp with the Louisville Ballet for free.Ballet Bound is geared to start a 10 year process that ends with the students becoming professional dancers with the Louisville Ballet. On Sunday, at Iroquois Park, Louisville Ballet continued its audition tour to bring the art form to underserved communities.Louisville Ballet is hosting five audition events in all to identify 20 dancers for the 2021-22 Ballet Bound class. They are to be held at:Boone Square: June 5, 10:00-11:30 a.m.Seneca Park: June 19, 10:00-11:30 a.m.Shelby Park: July 10, 10:00-11:30 a.m.Iroquois Park: July 18, 2:00-3:30 p.m.Russell Lee Park: July 24, 10:00-11:30 a.m.Auditions are open to ALL children ages 7-9.
